Tracy has ancestral ties to Ngā Wariki me Ngāti Apa, Te Āti Haunui-a-Pāpārangi, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Kahungunu ki Te Wairoa, Ngāti Porou, and to Scotland and Germany. Tracy’s research advances Māori and Indigenous interests and contributes to a more balanced tertiary education environment and curriculum in Aotearoa New Zealand. As a Māori researcher, Tracy’s work spans language revitalisation, cultural difference in computing science, curriculum and pedagogy, and the GLAM sector. Tracy is currently developing research on Indigenous citational practice as an emerging critical methodology, examining how systems of attribution and knowledge organisation can better reflect Indigenous epistemologies and relational ways of knowing.
