Pippa Herden is a Gomeroi woman originally from Tamworth NSW and now based in Sydney. After completing a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in History and English she now is studying a Master of Museum and Heritage Studies at the University of Sydney. Her professional career began in book selling and public libraries and has now moved to academic libraries as the Indigenous Engagement Officer at the University of Sydney Library.
She is passionate about curating a positive and culturally safe library experience for Indigenous staff, students and the broader community with an aim of connecting them to opportunities for cultural connection and cultural competency. She is interested in how the Indigenous student experience can be improved by rethinking cultural programs and engagement in libraries that inspire and support their success. Pippa is at the beginning of her professional journey in the GLAM sector and is looking forward to collaborating with, and learning from, other Indigenous professionals in the space
