Narissa Timbery is a Koori woman from the Yuin Nation on the New South Wales South Coast. She is a senior lecturer and DAATSIA Fellow in the Department of Human Centred Computing, Faculty of Information Technology, at Monash University. She is a researcher on the Monash Indigenous Data Sovereignty & Living Archives Initiative, focusing on Indigenous-led care of Indigenous knowledges/records/data on country, and the DAATSIA Fellow on the Cybersecurity for Indigenous Communities project. Narissa is a trained archivist and has worked at the National Archives of Australia and the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies. Narissa’s work centres on connecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples with their records held in archival institutions; through her research, she hopes to achieve the return or care of archival records in accordance with Community protocols.
